Destroyerclub Happy New Year Chat

Posted in Destroyer books, Destroyer club chat, Destroyer ebooks on January 3, 2017 by destroyerclub

We meet Tuesday, January 3rd at 9PM EST, 8PM CST in the Mibbit chat room.  No need to log in.  In the top box where it says “Nick” type in your name or whatever alias you wish; channel is: #thedestroyerclub.

Bully Pulpit (The Destroyer #151) has been published. You can buy the paperback HERE on Amazon, and also the EBOOK. And on B&N HERE. It has received many five star reviews.

Laughing Matter, the next book in the Legacy series, is being polished and should be out shortly.

Warren Murphy passed away Friday, Sept. 4th. But Chiun, Remo, Smitty and the rest of the marvelous group of characters live on. More books are already in the planning stages.

Jim Mullaney’s latest Crag Banyon Mystery, The Butler Did I.T., is in the proofing/formatting stage. It should be ready sometime this month.  His last Banyon,  Shoot the Moon, is live on Amazon in Kindle and paperback, Createspace, and at Smashwords.  For any of you who don’t know, he’s the author of 25 Destroyer books (#s 111 – 131, plus the four New Destroyers) and The Assassin’s Handbook 2. Pick up your copy today!

Legacy #5: Mother Mine is now available on Amazon on Kindle and in paperback.

Warren Murphy has a new Digger short story out in Fifty Shades of Grey Fedora, an anthology edited by Robert Randisi (Destroyer ghostwriter of #40: Dangerous Games, #43 Midnight Man, and #58 Total Recall).

Shane Black is directing and Jim Mullaney (whose latest Red Menace #5 — Red on the Menu — is out on Amazon, B&N,  and Smashwords) is co-writing (with Jim Uhls) a new Destroyer movie. The movie has a very spartan page on IMDb and James also has a page there.

More Blood: A Sinanju Anthology is up on Amazon in paperback and ebook. We’ve got a really good batch of stories; the authors should be proud of themselves. Destroyer fans are in for a real treat!

Flying Blind, Jim Mullaney’s 6th Crag Banyon mystery is now available in Kindle and paperback on Amazon and in several different formats on Smashwords.

Warren’s writing blog —  How to Start … and Finish… Your Novel:  Complete With  Money-back Guarantee:  Lesson 12  — the final lesson — is up.

Jim Mullaney’s  Devil May Care, his second CragBanyon Mystery, was a runner up for Best Indie PI Novel in last year’s Shamus Awards.

MORE BLOOD! (New Blood 2)

Posted in Destroyer books, Destroyer ebooks on September 25, 2013 by sunnyjoedale

Attention Destroyer fans! As readers of the long-running men’s adventure series by Warren Murphy and Dick Sapir, maybe you’ve had ideas for a short story or two. If you’re a long-time fan, you remember when Warren published ‘New Blood‘ — an anthology of fan-written short stories and artwork. Or maybe you discovered the series too late to participate. Maybe you figured it was something that would never happen again and you’d missed your chance.

Not so! Warren is publishing a second anthology and needs contributions.

Submission dates begin NOW and will run until January 2014. Stories must be Destroyer-themed, of course, although they don’t have to feature any of the main characters. Stories of past Masters or future Masters are welcome, as are stories of a young Harold Smith or Conn MacCleary, a villain, or a supporting character. Let your creativity run wild! Entries can be serious or funny; they can be action or crime or sci-fi, or they can be something else entirely. This is your chance to make the series your own, although the main characters should behave as they would in a Destroyer novel (no Remo killing nuns or Chiun eating a cheeseburger). Sex and violence should be kept around a PG-13 rating. Length can be anywhere from ultra-short flash fiction (about 1000 words) to 7500 words. Longer entries may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but may need to be shortened out of space considerations. (Please, no full-length novels). The anthology will be anchored by Donna Courtois’ new novella, Storm Warning.

We are also accepting artwork. Again, subjects can be anything related to the books, and again, PG-13 is a good guideline. If you submit something in color, remember that the interior artwork will be printed in grayscale. Contact us for format requirements.

Now put down the Internet and pick up those pens (or open up Word and put those fingers on the keyboard)! Stories should have title and author at the top, and a word count at the end. Standard formats only — Word, OpenOffice, or RTF, and please no PDFs.

When you’re ready, send your submission to We cannot guarantee that all submissions will be accepted, but we promise to read each and every one.

Need more motivation to submit? Warren Murphy is donating a percentage of all profits to charity.

Warren Murphy Book Signing/Fan Appreciation Event

Posted in Book Signing, Destroyer books, Molly Cochran, Warren Murphy on September 12, 2013 by sunnyjoedale

On Saturday Sept 14th, 2013, NY Times Bestselling author Warren Murphy will be appearing at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library “Formerly known as the Central Library” in Virginia Beach, VA.

Murphy, whose resume lists nearly 200 books, numerous Edgar and Shamus awards, screenwriting credits, and more, asks that fans limit themselves to bringing 3 items from home for autographing. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

The first 50 fans to arrive will receive a gift bag with a special signed edition of Murphy’s first book “Created The Destroyer” just for this event.

If you are a fan of the “Destroyer” series, “Lethal Weapon”, “Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins”, “Legacy”, “Trace” (AKA “Digger”), you’ll want to stop by.
This event happens to fall on Murphy’s 80th birthday weekend, so come on out and wish him a happy birthday and see what new stuff he’s been up to!

Here’s an excerpt from another talk Warren gave several years ago:

Exploitation Retrospect

Posted in Destroyer books, Warren Murphy on April 6, 2013 by sunnyjoedale

Exploitation Retrospect is calling for contributions to a new section — Assignment: Action! — that will be in their Fall 2013 issue.

Assignment: Action! will feature

reviews of men’s adventure novels of the 70s/80s and beyond, action cinema, remembrances of memorable action series and characters and so on. If you dig Remo Williams, The Chameleon, The Penetrator, ABLE Team, The Executioner and their ilk we are definitely seeking contributions from you!

This is a chance for Destroyer fans to post remembrances of  the series, its authors and the various ghost writers, how you were turned on to the Destroyer,  hopes for the direction the series has taken, social issues raised, etc.  If they get enough, maybe it will turn into an all-Destroyer retrospective.
