No news yet about the new publisher for The Destroyer. Maybe this will be the week when we find out who it is and what plans they have for the series.

“Hello, you’ve reached Banyon Investigations….”

Crag Banyon is just your run-of-the-mill P.I. He’s got a secretary who loves to hate and hates to love him. His worst enemy in the world is on the local force and relishes the thought of seeing Banyon behind bars. And he’s got a knack for attracting all the crazies to his small downtown office above the fish market. So when an elf shows up on a stolen reindeer and hints of foul play at the North Pole, Banyon takes the whole thing in stride, refuses to take the case, and heads off to his favorite saloon. But when the elf turns up dead the next morning, the cops make their least favorite private eye the fall guy.

A hunted man, Banyon lams it to the Arctic Circle to clear his name. He quickly finds that Santa’s workshop is a lot more dangerous than even a plucky P.I. with a ready quip and a five-alarm hangover can handle. Between fighting for his life and fending off the advances of a hot-to-trot Mrs. Claus, Banyon uncovers a conspiracy that goes far past December 25. If he can just ring in the New Year without a bullet in his brain, it’ll all be just another day’s work for Crag Banyon, P.I.

Update: Warren Murphy’s gotten in touch with us. The Destroyers with formatting problems have been taken down and will be restored as soon as possible. There were unforeseen problems with the some of the files he was given which meant they didn’t come out right.

It has come to our attention that there are formatting problems with several of the Destroyer books that have been coming out for 99 cents.
#1 Created, The Destroyer through #4 Mafia Fix are fine. But hold off buying any from #5 Dr. Quake through #9 Murder’s Shield until further notice. The formatting came through with some errors, such as paragraphs not being indented and quotation marks missing from the dialogue. You’re welcome to download them, but buyer beware.

Destroyer Books on Kindle

Most of the Destroyer books’ rights have now reverted to Warren Murphy, at least through #131, we believe. They will all be going up on Kindle and other e-reader formats eventually. The first three books are up on Amazon now, at a bargain price of 99 cents: Created, The Destroyer, Death Check and Chinese Puzzle.

Update: Mafia Fix and Dr. Quake are now available, also for 99 cents.

If you’ve been wanting to get your friends into the series, but didn’t want to lend them the books, if you’ve lost some of them, if you just want a copy for your Kindle, now’s the time to pick them up.

Also, if you want to help out, putting a review up there would be fantastic. If they sell well enough, maybe Warren would consider reviving the series using Kindle.

No further news about the series’ new contract. This week? We’re hoping something will break soon. What great New Year’s news that would be for Destroyer fans!

The new contract would include not only novels, but novellas and short stories. A New Blood 2 is a distinct possibility, so those of you fans who have written a Destroyer story too late for New Blood, Warren would like to see it. What’s holding things up is they wish to publish Warren’s back catalog of books, not just the previous Destroyers, and they’re having trouble ironing out the rights. We hope that’s going to be settled ASAP. More news as it becomes available.

From Jim Mullaney: Jim’s latest book, One Horse Open Slay is up in Amazon’s Kindle store, as is The Red Menace #1: Red and Buried. It seems Red and Buried will be turning up in paperback form in 2012, if this Moonstone page is any indication.

Destroyers #43 through 49 are up on Kindle, including the ever-popular #46: Next of Kin. Several of the Ballybunnion titles are on Kindle already They seem to be selling very well.

Don’t forget the IMDB goose (see post below). It went down 20% in popularity last week, but thanks to some of you checking out the movie, it’s back up 22% this week.

Speaking Volumes has just announced the next four Destroyer audio books. In no particular order, they are Acid Rock, Funny Money, Next of Kin, and Profit Motive.

Brian has put several of the Ballybunnion titles on Kindle and they seem to be selling very well. The Assassins Handbook, Assassins Handbook 2 , and New Blood. Miss Bidwell’s Spirit is also available now and Brian says The Movie That Never Was should be up shortly. The formatting for the script form is more difficult than a regular book, which has delayed it a little.
